AUA operates flights to Düsseldorf
This morning the direct flight connection from Graz to Düsseldorf was resumed, and the flights to Vienna will also be expanded this week. Düsseldorf is a particularly important destination for the Styrian economy, so a return to the flight schedule has long been hoped for. As of today, there are two direct flights a week between Düsseldorf and Graz; from June onwards, the number will be increased to four flights.
In parallel, this week will see an improved Vienna service and thus greater connectivity from Graz: instead of the previous 10 weekly flights, there will be a total of up to 14 flights to choose from.
“The global effects of the Corona crisis have massively affected airports worldwide and thus also abruptly interrupted the high flight of the Styrian gateway to the world. While the best result in history was still achieved in 2019, the Corona crisis has caused passenger numbers in 2020 to fall to the level of almost 35 years ago. For a recovery process, it is therefore all the more important that important connections such as those to Düsseldorf are resumed,” says Finance and Investment City Councillor Dr Günter Riegler.
“It is important to gradually boost international travel again,” explains Jürgen Löschnig, Managing Director of Graz Airport, “so the return of Düsseldorf is of course a special highlight! And not only for us, but also for the many Styrian companies that have been pushing for the resumption of the route for a long time. But the increase in flights to Vienna is also of great importance, as it greatly improves the transfer possibilities from Graz.”
The flights are operated with an Embraer 195 and the standard flight days are Monday and Thursday.
