The mood in the travel and airline industry is visibly optimistic. The easing of many travel restrictions has also led to the resumption of scheduled flights to Düsseldorf and Stuttgart next Monday, 28 February 2022.

Holding Graz CEO Wolfgang Malik: “Tourism and the economy in Styria, the whole of southern Austria and northern Slovenia benefit equally from the worldwide connections via the hubs served from Graz and the attractive direct connections. The Styrian export industry stands for more than 8,000 exporting companies with a goods export volume of € 26 billion and growth rates that are significantly higher than the rest of Austria. The direct connection to Stuttgart and Düsseldorf is an important economic link that we have maintained with small business jets even when the lines were down. I am all the more pleased that these connections are now available again to our customers on a regular basis.”

“Now that travel is becoming easier again and the infection curve is showing signs of abating, we are seeing a significant increase in demand for business travel. Many important partner companies for the export-oriented Styrian industry and economy are located in the economic centres of Stuttgart and Düsseldorf. In addition, the direct flights offer holiday guests from the two German federal states an attractive way to travel to Graz and the Green Heart of Austria,” informs Wolfgang Grimus, Managing Director of Graz Airport.

“Eurowings is gearing up for a summer with enormous catch-up effects. After a significant increase in tourist flight bookings – several tens of thousands every day – demand on the business routes is also picking up increasingly. After two years of pandemics and months of working from the home office, the desire for freedom in both private and professional contexts is growing stronger. In view of the increasing demand, we are very pleased to resume the relevant connections Düsseldorf-Graz and Stuttgart-Graz with three and five flights per week, respectively, as of 28 February 2022,” explains Eurowings CEO Jens Bischof.

Initially, there will be three flights a week to Düsseldorf and five flights a week to Stuttgart; in the summer flight schedule, which starts at the end of March, a gradual increase to 11 flights a week is planned. The flights will be operated with Airbus 319 and Airbus 220-300 aircraft.
