Actually, the major event “EuroSkills” should have been held in Graz last year. But COVID-19 put a stop to that – and “EuroSkills 2020” thus became “EuroSkills 2021”. However, Holding Graz will of course remain on board as a strong partner.
“EuroSkills” is a vocational competition that is held every two years in the form of a European championship. The focus is on top performances by young, highly talented specialists under the age of 25 in around 45 European professions. The competitions in the vocational fields from the industry, skilled trades and service sectors are contested by around 600 active participants. For the first time since “EuroSkills” was founded, this European championship is being held in Austria – the venue will be Graz.
The “EuroSkills 2021” will be held from 22 until 26 September – Around 450 participants are expected for the event and they will be putting their skills to the test in 6 different vocational categories and around 45 professions.

As the largest municipal service provider in southern Austria, our company has diverse areas of activity and therefore also offers a broad range of training options for young people. In 19 different countries, we train young specialists in our own workshops and operational facilities; in addition, external training modules, courses at the WIFI and a special day for apprentices are also part of the comprehensive training programme.
Wolfgang Malik, CEO of Holding Graz explains why the commitment to the “EuroSkills 2021” is synonymous with the company’s commitment to local young people: “We are supporting the ‘EuroSkills 2021’ because in our role as a municipal service provider it is part of our social responsibility to train young people as well as possible and to make them fit for their professional future. We are very proud that this vocational competition is being held in Graz for the first time.”
