Omikron is also affecting Graz Linien with increased absences among the driving personnel: Therefore, the buses and streetcars will operate in a situation-adapted timetable from 24.3.2022. Schools and hospitals will be served more frequently.

At the end of the previous year, Holding Graz had already taken precautions in all areas for the increased loss of employees due to Omikron, which cannot be ruled out and which could also affect Holding Graz despite a high level of vaccination readiness and constant testing. At Graz Linien, the top priority is to maintain a nationwide basic public transport service even in the event of passenger declines. A timetable adapted to the situation, which will come into effect on Thursday, March 24, 2022, is now also necessary at Graz Linien due to a sharp increase in covid cases among the driving personnel.

The vacation timetable serves as the basis for the adjusted timetable. In addition, Graz Linien will reinforce the streetcar lines all day to the hospitals and in the morning hours to the schools. The bus service also continues to provide the schools with insertions.

Holding Board Director Mark Perz: “Omikron also presents us with major challenges due to the sharp increase in covid cases. As part of the critical infrastructure, we have developed various concepts and measures in order to be able to offer the expected basic services to the people of Graz via flexible service times even in the event of corona-related increased absences in the driving personnel. As of Thursday, we will therefore be operating with a timetable adapted to the situation; in addition, we will be reinforcing the streetcar lines all day to the hospitals and, in particular, in the morning hours to the schools. I would like to thank all employees for their enormous commitment during this challenging time.”

Based on current forecasts, Graz Linien assume that the Corona case numbers will level off at a low level from Easter and that the normal timetable can therefore also be reactivated.

Updated timetables are expected to be available as a pdf from March 25. Current timetables can be found in the route planner as well as in the GrazMobil app.
