Since 1 March, the focus has been on sport in Graz. “Let’s Go Graz” is the motto of the sports year in which Holding Graz is participating as a premium partner with a host of activities.

Holding Graz has not only won multiple awards as a family-friendly company but is also a particularly sporty, active and fit company as, for instance, numerous prizes from “Fit im Job” (Styrian health prize) in the category “Promotion of health at the workplace” underline.

And as a municipal service company, we also ensure movement in the Styrian provincial capital on a day-to-day basis. Whether it involves public transport, waste management, water management or urban space – Holding Graz is, so to speak, the engine that keeps the city of Graz running. The dynamism of Holding Graz is also reflected in the sports year 2021, which is why we are proud to be participating as a premium partner of the sports year 2021.

Official start to the sports year 2021

Holding Graz and municipal administration: in motion together

In addition to a proven, comprehensive fit calendar, which Holding & Graz municipal administration compile jointly for their employees, a total of eleven fields are offered in the joint company sport community of Holding Graz and Energie Graz.

That is why it is also only logical that Holding Graz and Graz municipal administration participate very actively in the sports year as the two supporting pillars of the Graz administration.

For a long period of time, Holding Graz has been one of the largest sport sponsors in our federal province. Not only professional associations (e.g. Sturm Graz, GAK, Graz 99ers) are supported; also grassroots sport activities and events are sponsored.

For Holding Graz, partnerships and sponsorships in which customers and employees can participate actively such as the Graz sports year are of particular importance for Holding. In addition to the sports year overall, Holding Graz will also support individual flagship projects such as the Olympic qualification tournament in 3×3 basketball or Sport Austria Finals.

Initial sporting steps:

  • Steps are already being collected since the start of the week for the “StepsApp Challenge”; more than 100 employees from each of the two administrations had already registered before the sports year had begun.
  • The “Castle Mountain Challenge” puts the focus on the “local mountain” of Holding Graz all year round.
  • And the Seven Summit Hiking Pass also invites people to participate. The goal is to climb the seven highest peaks of Graz (Castle Mountain, Lustbühel, Fürstenstand/Plabutsch, St. Johann and Paul, Buchkogel/Kronprinz-Rudolf-Warte, Platte/Stephanienwarte and Schöckl).

“Sport year tram” out and about in Graz:

The rewards club tram of Holding Graz, which with its colourful sporty appearance has been one of the “eye-catchers” in the Graz cityscape for some years now and aims to make the numerous advantages from the sport commitment of Holding Graz attractive to our loyal customers, has now been divided into two. Half of the tram now belongs to the sports year; as a result of this “facelifting”, the vehicle will also advertise the sports year 2021 until the end of 2021 as it makes its way through Graz.

As a sports year tram, it thus joins the ranks of a now lengthy list of trams that have advertised the sports partnerships of Holding – from the Spielberg project and the European championships in figure skating to the Jochen Rindt memorial year.

The Graz sports year 2021:

The sports year runs from 1 March until 31 December 2021. The 10 months are divided into so-called “focus areas”. In each month, the focus is on very specific types of sport. The month of March is, for instance, dominated by the topic of “everyday exercise”.

In the sports year 2021, all residents of Graz (particularly also non-sportsmen and women, children and retirees, etc.) are to be motivated and inspired for sport, and the awareness for the health aspect of sport is to be sharpened.

All the info on the sports year is available at https://letsgograz.at/!

Exhibition on the sports year:

The sports year 2021 is also represented in the Universalmuseum Joanneum – in the form of the exhibition “Fertig? Los! – Die Geschichte von Sport und Technik” (“Ready, steady, go! – The history of sport and technology”). The exhibition will run from 27 March, all the info on this is available here!
