“Summer in the City” attracts again

This year, too, summer in Graz will play all the pieces. “Summer in the City” offers lots of leisure time fun for all Graz residents and visitors to our city.

“Why wander far and wide? Look, the good lies so near!” – is a saying borrowed from Goethe. As far as Graz is concerned, it’s more than fitting – because this year, too, there are plenty of highlights in our city that will turn the “Summer in the City” into a leisure paradise.

And Holding Graz is right in the middle of it instead of just being there. Because we don’t just keep Graz running, we also make sure that every leisure need is met.

As in the previous year, Graz is once again under the sign of “Summer in the City”, the City of Graz’s campaign to show how many leisure opportunities our city has to offer. We list some of them here. And we present the “Summer in the City” campaigns of this year, such as the free public transport on Saturdays.

Introduction "Summer in the City"

Always on Saturdays: Free travel on all public transport until the end of the holiday!

Now all Graz residents and visitors to the city can look forward to a very special offer as part of the campaign: on all Saturdays between 17 July and 11 September 2021 there will be free travel on the city’s public transport lines in zone 101, including the Schloßbergbahn.

An important signal, especially for the accessibility of the city centre, as Mayor Siegfried Nagl emphasises: “Summer is once again the Graz season to experience the city. Graz offers everything it needs for a relaxing holiday. From culinary delights and hearty cuisine to recreation in the parks and leisure facilities to art, culture and shopping experiences, everything is there. With the summer free ride on Saturdays, we want to invite everyone to explore their city for free by public transport.”

The advantages of the Graz holiday are also underlined by Deputy Mayor Mario Eustacchio: “In summer, after long restrictions, our city finally comes back to life! The farmers’ markets in particular are bursting with life again. I would like to invite all residents of our beautiful hometown: Let’s discover our beautiful public spaces together and spend the summer in our city!”

Children’s play streets with street music

What?

The Holding Graz Citymanagement organises nine temporary playgrounds at different locations in the city centre of Graz in cooperation with the Office for Youth and Family.

The temporary playgrounds allow toddlers and children accompanied by their parents or guardians to play freely. The free play is accompanied by pedagogically experienced play mobile operators from Graz (Fratz Graz, Jakotopia, WIKI and Kinderfreunde Steiermark).

The play streets are always open to children from 10 am to 1 pm.

In addition, there is always great street music at the respective square/street between 11 am and 4 pm with different bands and musicians – organised in cooperation with “Musik Zentral”.
