By lift to the Clock Tower

Two very important events for Graz were responsible for the construction of the Castle Mountain lifts: the provincial exhibition in 2000 and the designation of Graz as a Capital of Culture in 2003.

The project costs for the construction of the two Castle Mountain lifts amounted to 4.1 million euros. Whereas until the construction of the Castle Mountain lifts, it was only possible to reach the Graz Clock Tower via 260 steps of a rocky path, the lift, which starts from Schloßbergplatz, now reaches the Clock Tower in 30 seconds.

Lift stops:

  • Schloßbergplatz
  • Dom im Berg (only open during events)
  • Uhrturmkasematten (only open during events)
  • Uhrturm-Café Aiola Upstairs
