New: Direct connection from Graz to London

‘London Calling!’: Starting on 21 November, British Airways subsidiary BA Euroflyer will operate three direct flights per week from Graz Airport to London Gatwick on an Airbus A320.
British Airways, the United Kingdom’s national airline and a member of the oneworld alliance, is offering three weekly flights from Graz Airport to London Gatwick. The new direct flights, which will start in November, connect the British capital with Austria’s second-largest city.
Karen Hilton, Managing Director of British Airways subsidiary BA Euroflyer: ‘We are delighted to further strengthen our connectivity between London and Austria with the addition of Graz. We will be offering the only direct connection between the two cities, giving our customers more choice – whether for business, leisure or visiting friends and family.’
“London was by far our largest market without direct flights. The scheduled flights with BA Euroflyer to Gatwick are hugely important for business, industry and tourism in our region,‘ says Wolfgang Grimus, Managing Director of Graz Airport. ’The new flight connection will benefit both business travellers and holidaymakers who want to discover the scenic, cultural and culinary diversity of Graz and Styria or immerse themselves in the fascinating metropolis of London. In addition, our passengers will have access to connecting flights to selected long-haul destinations and also to a second aviation alliance.”
The oneworld alliance, which has been in existence since 1999, has a total of more than 3,000 aircraft from 15 members. In addition to British Airways, these include American Airlines, Iberia, Qatar Airways, Royal Air Maroc and Qantas.
Wolfgang Malik, owner representative of Graz Airport, emphasises that ‘a direct route between Graz and London has been pursued for a long time and the immediate availability of flights to London Gatwick from Graz is now an important milestone’.
‘The route to London with British Airways will further strengthen the quality of Graz Airport as a location for the Styrian economy and as a hub for the southern region, and will enable mutually attractive tourism offers,’ says Malik, who is particularly proud of the successful conclusion for the Styrian regional airport.
