From 29 November: Launch of lines 16 and 17

On Saturday, 29 November 2025, trams will run on the new route via Andreas-Hofer-Platz for the first time. In addition, specific route changes and timetable adjustments will be made to the route network.
The newly built tram line (Jakominiplatz – Radetzkystraße – Neutorgasse – Andreas-Hofer-Platz – Tegetthoffbrücke – Belgiergasse – Vorbeckgasse – Annenstraße connection) will go into operation on Saturday, 29 November 2025. The new line will initially be served by tram lines 16 and 17.
Line 17
Line 17 (Wetzelsdorf – Andreas-Hofer-Platz – LKH Med Uni) runs Monday to Friday (on working days) during normal and holiday hours from 5 a.m. to approx. 8 p.m., alternating with line 7 (Wetzelsdorf – Hauptplatz – LKH Med Uni). This means that one tram departs from each terminus as line 7 and the next as line 17.
The tip for line 17 is: if line 7 is running, then line 17 also runs via Andreas-Hofer-Platz until around 8 p.m. on working days (Monday to Friday).
Line 16
Line 16 (Smart City – Andreas-Hofer-Platz – St. Peter) runs when line 6 (Smart City – Hauptplatz – St. Peter) is not running: Monday to Friday from approximately 7.30 p.m. to midnight, and all day on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. This applies to both the normal and holiday timetables.
The new operating hours for line 6 (Smart City – Hauptplatz – St. Peter) are Monday to Friday on working days from 4.30 a.m. to approx. 7.30 p.m.
The tip to remember for line 16 is: if line 6 is not running, line 16 runs via Andreas-Hofer-Platz.
Routes 31, 31E, N2:
The routes for lines 31 and 31E will be shortened: they will no longer run to Webling but will terminate at the new final stop ‘Harterstraße’. The previous stops ‘Stregengasse’, ‘Weblinger Straße’ and ‘Webling’ on lines 31/31E are now served by line 62.
Line N2 will also run to the new terminus at Harterstraße.
Lines 34, 34E, 67, N8:
The ‘Neusiedlergasse’ stop in the direction of Jakominiplatz will be discontinued and the newly built ‘Dr.-Plochl-Straße’ stop in the direction of Jakominiplatz will go into operation.
The ‘Kirchner Kaserne’ stop will be renamed ‘Trattenweg’.
Line 52:
Line 52 will run every 10 minutes during the day (instead of every 15 minutes as before). The interval will be reduced because line 67 no longer runs to the Central Cemetery.
