Thalersee

The “swimming pool” of Arnold Schwarzenegger was revitalised.

From “ice pond” to leisure paradise:

The Thalersee has an eventful history behind it – and in front of it. Because Holding Graz has revitalised the excursion destination at the gates of Graz anew (cf. link below).

At one time, there were ponds where the lake is now located. These were drained but then refilled again in 1920 by the private owner at the time and the entire expanse of water was dammed up. Initially only in the winter to produce ice for the residents of Graz.

In 1925, a lido was created from it before the area became somewhat outdated. It now belongs to Holding Graz and is being revitalised. Of course there will also be boat hire again – and walking around the lake will become even more attractive. In addition, the food service offered will have something to appeal to everybody.

The Thalersee can be reached with the bus line 48 from Gösting.
