Setting the course for our (inner) city

It is a real change of course for our city: the inner city decongestion, which will now be tackled with the start of construction on 6 March.

Currently, all tram lines run via Hauptplatz, through Herrengasse to Jakominiplatz and vice versa. It is hardly possible to run additional trams through the bottleneck at the Eisernen Tor. This makes it impossible to increase the interval between trams. In addition, events, demonstrations and the like cause disruptions and even temporary suspensions of the tram service of all six lines in Herrengasse.

Therefore, relief is now provided in the city centre and the planned increase in capacity is made possible. The city centre of Graz – especially Herrengasse, Hauptplatz and Südtirolerplatz – can thus be relieved in terms of traffic. The construction period is scheduled until the end of 2025.

We provide information on all channels and continuously update you on all aspects of the construction. On our website you will find weekly updated construction previews, a folder, all questions and answers, plans and all information about changes in traffic (public transport, cars, pedestrians and cyclists).
