On 9 May 2021, it’s time to celebrate our mothers and like every year, we are faced with the challenge of surprising our loving mothers with a tasteful gift. In this article we, Carina and Lisa, sisters and bloggers, born and raised in the beautiful capital of Styria, would like to present you with some gift ideas and give you some valuable tips for this year’s Mother’s Day. With over 700 GrazGutschein partners in Graz city centre, you are guaranteed to find the perfect gift for every mother.

We would like to show you 3 categories of Mother’s Day gifts that will put a smile on every mother’s face. The classics among the gifts on this day: sweets, jewellery and flowers.

Let’s start with the latter! Besides Valentine’s Day, our florists are probably busy on Mother’s Day. Roses always go, of course – but the only downside to a beautiful bouquet for your mother is that it’s ephemeral! So how about a dried flower arrangement or a potted plant this year? Our mother loves cacti, but we also found beautiful flowering specimens at “Flower Power” in Schönaugasse.

Even more timeless is jewellery as a gift. We found what we were looking for at the “Ethnothek” in Schmiedgasse, a great little shop in the centre of Graz that we discovered only recently, a real insider tip. The “Ethnothek” offers jewellery for every taste, from delicate and filigree to flashy and pompous.  We were particularly taken with the beautifully crafted silver jewellery with high-quality gold plating. You don’t have to worry, by the way, because you’re sure to find what you’re looking for here even on a smaller budget.

As we all know, the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, so our last stop on our Mother’s Day shopping tour takes us to Haller in Herrengasse, an institution when it comes to sweets. Here, sweet tooths are guaranteed to be in seventh heaven and find gifts that are not only pleasing to the palate but also to the eye. The classic among the “Haller chocolates” are the “Haller Schlossberg truffles” with the clock tower. In addition to these classics, we have chosen rose caramels and roasted strawberry yoghurt almonds.
